Islam (The Way of Life) Newspaper

Islam (The Way of Life) is an A3 tabloid size newspaper, which is freely distributed monthly in the Eastern Cape Region, (Port Elizabeth and surroundings), KZN areas, Western Cape (Cape town and surrounding Areas), Gauteng (Jhb etc.), and Pretoria.

It was launched in the Eastern Cape, in July 2006, trading under different names, and is presently in it’s 33rd publication. The aim of the newspaper is to revitalize Islam amongst all Muslim genders of all ages and to promote Islam to non- Muslims. It is the first newspaper, run and governed completely by the Ulema (theologians), in this format of publication. All the publications run as separate entity’s, with different advertising for the various provinces.

    Repent the day before you die…

    Ruqayyah, an affluent young girl, born with silver spoon in her mouth sat waiting impatiently at the doctor's clinic to get the results of a medical test. She was in a hurry as she had to attend a party that evening and feared she may be late for her appointment with the hairdresser. She never thought the result would be anything important. It was just a precaution insisted upon by her family. She had never suffered any serious illness, apart from the odd ache in her limbs.

    I - EID-UL-FITR wumkhosi ogujwa ngosuku lokuqala enyangeni ka-Shawwaal, ngemuva kokuphela kwe-Ramadhaan. I-Shawwaal yinyanga yeshumi ngokwekhalenda le-Islam. I-Eid-ul-Fitr wusuku olugcwele injabulo, iwusuku lwangempela lokubonga lwamadoda, amakhosikazi nabantwana abakholiwe. Ngalolusuku ama-Muslim akhombisa injabulo yawo yangempela, ngempilo, amandla kanye namathuba empilo, abakunikezwe wu-Allah ukuba bafeze izipho zokuzila kanye nezinye izenzo ezinhle ngenyanga ebusisekile ye-Ramadhaan.

    The Night Preceding 'Eid-ul-Fitr'

    It had been the practice of the Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, that he would pray during the night preceding the day of Eid-ul-fitr. This night has been named in a Hadith as the Night of Reward (Lailatul Jaiza). Almighty bestows his rewards on those who have spent the month of Ramadan abiding by the dictates of Shari'ah, and all their prayers in this night are accepted.

    After Ramadaan

    The Holy month of Ramadaan came like seasonal rain and passed by. This rain did not water the plants and crops -it showered upon the hearts of believers. It is sad, but true, that the hearts of the majority of Muslims are stricken with spiritual drought and spiritual decadence. It is a drought caused by excessive indulgence in un-Islamic activities, immoral behaviour, unjust actions, unfair dealings etc. Drought caused by lack of rain destroys crops -drought caused by lack of piety, lack of fear of Allah and lack of Allah ...

    AIF'S ROBUST RESPONSE IN SOMALIA…

    In what has been labelled the worst drought in 60 years, the recent drought in the Horn of Africa has led to the emergence of a tragic humanitarian situation. The lack of rain in the region, 80 percent less than in normal situations, has led to the failure of existing agriculture which has thus resulted in severe food and water shortages.

    Due to the difficulty of the crisis not being centralised to one point, the Al Imdaad Foundation intends to respond to this disaster in the manner of a three pronged approach.
