About the Book

The Alif-Baa-Taa Colouring and Activity Book is much more than just a colouring book as it strives to teach the Arabic alphabet as accurately as possible. Therefore, it is important that your child receives as much adult guidance as possible with the activities in order to derive maximum benefit, insha-Allah.

The book is suitable for a range of ages. It caters for the toddler who has developed an interest in colouring-in; the pre-schooler who has started learning the Arabic alphabet, up to the older child who is able to research from the Holy Qur’aan and appreciate the meanings of some of its verses.

The book comprises:

• A page for each letter of the Arabic alphabet on which its form/ shape can be practiced through following dots, writing and colouring-in.
• A word beginning with each letter of the alphabet, sourced from the Holy Qur’aan, with its Arabic spelling, transliteration and English translation.
• A verse from the English translation of the Holy Qur’aan containing each of the above words, with the Qur’anic reference.
• A relevant A4 drawing for colouring-in, accompanying each word.
• An A3 pull-out poster of the entire Arabic alphabet that can be coloured in.
• A table with accompanying diagrams describing the exact sound/pronunciation of each letter of the alphabet and the organs of speech used to achieve perfect pronunciation.

In addition to the above activities, the older child can be encouraged to research the quoted Qur’anic verses, source the names of the relevant Surahs and copy the Arabic version of the verses by hand.

Overall, the combination of the words chosen, the accompanying drawings and the Qur’anic quotations, gives this book a wonderful Islamic character. In essence, this publication aims to facilitate the learning of the language of the Holy Qur’an with a sense of eagerness and enjoyment; and open the doors of learning and discussion between child and parent/teacher about the Glorious Qur’an and our beautiful Deen, insha-Allah.
