    Hujjaj prepare for Mina

Many of the 2.5 million pilgrims, who are expected to perform Haj this year, will leave for the Mina valley, located five km east of Makkah, on Thursday evening at the start of the annual pilgrimage. The rest of them will proceed to the tent city Friday. Many of the South Africans VOC spoke to this week said they were ready for the strenous five days of haj which now lie ahead.

"Most of us will start leaving for Mina on Friday morning," head of the Muslim Judicial Council's Fatwa Committee, Maulana Yusuf Karaan, reported from Azzizia on Thursday. "We have all been resting to prepare for what lies ahead. The good news is that for once most of the world will be celebrating Eid on one day on Sunday. On a different note, the ongoing haj visa debacle has remained the talk of the town among South Africans, particularly after we heard that a criminal investigation was also underway here."
