Ummah demands answers on Hajj debacle
The Hajj industry in South Africa has gone beyond facilitating a sacred fundamental of the Shariah and has become a landscape for power struggles, white collar crimes, and allegations of money laundering and direct violations of Islamic law. In honouring the decision to facilitate a probe into the Hajj scandal, Channel Islam International conducted a discussion on Wednesday night piloted by Global Dynamic presenter, Inayat Wadee. The discussion focused on the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA), their role in the Hajj industry and their stance in bringing about solutions.

Muslims in Argentina
Preachers Hatem Mahmoud and Amr Nabil from the International University of Latin America conducted a recent study during their tour of Argentina in last Ramadan about the future of Islamic Da’wa.
This study aims to develop the system of advocacy work in Argentina with a comprehensive review of the status of the Muslim community and the Argentinean attitude towards Islam.
There are estimates of some 700,000 Muslims in Argentina, mostly descended from Syrian and Lebanese immigrants who came over in the late 1850s, and it’s worth mentioning that former President Carlos Saul Menem is of Syrian origin.

Focus on haj challenges
More than 300 Muslim leaders, scholars and academics are expected to participate in the annual Islamic conference organized by the Muslim World League (MWL) in Makkah during the Haj season this year to discuss major Muslim issues. “We are holding this conference during the Haj season, following a tradition introduced by King Abdul Aziz who had instructed Muslim scholars to meet in Makkah to discuss contemporary Muslim issues and problems,” said MWL Secretary-General Abdullah Al-Turki.
