1 African nation tour for Gift of the Givers
"Never before in the history of our continent and our people has it become so important to stand up and to be counted. No more begging bowl, no more cap in hand, no more the indignity of outstretched hands. The dignity and honour of our people has to be protected so whether it is famine and war in Somalia or a tornado in Duduza, Africans need to respond, without waiting for their brothers to ask; that is the Ubuntu of the soul," said GoG founder, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman.
Duduza: Gift of the Givers provides 120 homes
Following a devastating tornado that hit Duduza and Ficksberg last week, Gift of the Givers reported that by noon on Monday it had provided 120 temporary houses, thanks to the generosity of South African. This served to replace the 150 houses that had been totally destroyed by the tornado. However, said Dr Imtiaz Sooliman of GoG, another 200 houses have to be demolished since engineers have declared them unsafe for habitation.

Counselling for Duduza: Gift of the Givers
"We are worried about school; we have no bags, no stationery, no uniforms. We will fall behind in our education whilst other children will work". This was some of the key concerns raised during a trauma counselling session with children affected by the tornado that hit Duduza this week. Among the other concerns humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers hears was the overwhelming fear of the "black wind with two eyes" or "the snake that laid its eggs".
Somalia Bomb Blast
Due to numerous media requests in respect of the massive bomb blast that took place in Mogadishu today affecting nine government ministeries we are glad to announce that all Gift of the Givers ground staff are safe.
However, one of the walls in our compound broke and many windows shattered as the explosion was not too far away from our compound. Apparently body parts have been flung all over, the death toll is high and the destruction huge. For details Saaleha Hashi 0832080740. (Saaleha is the wife of Dr Hashi, who is Gift of the Givers co-ordinator on the ground in Somalia). Fate had it that she was on the line with him when the bomb exploded and all communication was cut off. Fortunately Dr Hashi called back soon thereafter shaken but safe
